Christian Brothers Racing Mechanic/Truck Driver Justin Halvorson fills us in on race weekends -->

PONTIAC - GRAFTON

02.13.2012

Hello -

So here's the latest, got to Pontiac on Thursday and we were able to
get the trucks parked. They had just started hauling the snow into the
building. When we got to the track Friday morning it was finished and
really turned out to be a very good track under the conditions. The night
started with practice and then a party in the pits where the fans all come
down to trailers and the riders sign autogaphs and chat with them. We ran
the rounds and ended up getting qualified on the front row for Logan and
Garth. Cory was able to get in throught the LCQ. The final was 28 laps. It
was a very exciting race, with a lot of crashes and great racing and passing.
I was trying to figure out which position Logi was running in so I could let him
know, but with all the carnage on the start and all over the track there were
lapped sleds everywhere. Closer to the end of the race I had finally figured
out he was in the third spot. Tucker then came off his sled and Logan got
around him. Logan continued to hold him off for the rest of the race to finsh
strong with a 2nd place, his first podium of the year. This was an awesome
finish to the night and very exciting for us. Well after getting the sled teched
and getting the trailer loaded, we took off for Grafton ND for the USCC race
ther on Sunday.

After driving through a couple snowstorms and a long night we arrived in Grafton
early on Sunday morning. The race there was a 20 mile loop of ditches, fields,
and river running. Due to the lack of snow the parade lap was cancelled. The
CBR team swept the open class. DJ ended up winning the stock final, with the
course taking its toll on the rest of the guys sleds as they all DNF'd, which was
pretty disappointing to the team. We are now back at the shop working on the
machines and getting everthing ready for the next race.

Well that is my latest report

SWEDEN - NEW YORK

02.06.2012

Hello!

So the three of us (Logan, Dwight, and myself) headed to Fargo to board the plane.
Our first plane was late so we ended up missing our flight to Sweden. But we were
able to catch a later flight and everything went good from there! Once there we got
checked into the hotel and the next morning went to shop to start preparing the sled
for race. The sled was brand new so it took a couple of days to get everything done
on the sled and at the end of Tuesday Logan was able to turn some laps on it.
Wednesday was spent with Logan riding the sled on the practice track and getting
sled broke in and ready to race.

Thursday was race day so we got over to the track which was just across town and
got registered and setup our pit stall. In Sweden there arent many big haulers like the
ones here in states. Everyone pretty much uses bigger vans and sets up tents in front
to do your work under. So we were setup and ready.

The practice went good the track was pretty hard and icy to begin with but got better
as night went on. The first heat didn't go real well as Logan had a huge holes shot
only to get landed on by another racer in the first section, but was able to come back
to a 6th place finish. The second heat went better with a 3rd place. This put him
into the semi final race which u had to get in top four to qualify for final. Logan just missed
the final by getting a 5th in that race. So we had one last shot in the LCQ, top two
transferred from that. Logan was in the second transfer spot with 1 lap to go when
another rider jumped into him in a corner and knocked him off the sled , so we didn't
make the final which was a huge bummer.

Even though the racing did not go real great it was pretty cool to have been able to see
how the races are in a different country. We spent one last night in the hotel and went to
the airport very early Friday morning to fly home. After a long day of flying we arrived in
Fargo at about 5:30 on Friday night and drove straight to Detroit Lakes for the USCC
race there for the weekend. Logan ended up getting a 5th place finish in the Pro Stock class
in his first ever lake race. Ryan also took a second and Garth a seventh in that race, so
was another good weekend for CBR. After that we loaded up the truck and went home.

That concluded a long week of traveling and racing for us. Monday morning we unloaded
the cross country sleds and got the snow cross sleds ready and loaded to head to NY.
Tuesday morning we headed out for NY and arrived there on Wednesday night. Due to
lack of snow to build a track the race in NY was cancelled. Left wondering what to do
we got a gracious invite from the Pattyns that run Stud Boy to come spend a few days
at there place till we found out if next race would go on.

So as I write this we have got word that the Pontiac race will go on, tomorrow morning
we will start work to prep sleds for that race and head to Pontiac on Thursday morning.

Big thanks to Bengans Motor and all his guys for all the help and work they gave us for
the race in Sweden as well as Pattyns for all the hospitality this week, it's been awesome!

That's all for now,

Justin.

ELK RIVER

01.19.2012
So we went to ERX motorpark last weekend for a regional ISOC race.
We were there on Friday morning and had a 4 hour practice session to
get used to the track and do some testing on the sleds. We raced two
classes each day that were Pro Open and Pro Stock which gave the
guys a chance to race their stock sleds for first time this year. We had
some decent results for weekend by getting on the podium a few times.
All in all it was a good weekend of racing, with the guys getting some
more track time in racing conditions and another chance to do testing
with the sleds.

This week some of us are getting ready to race at the World Championships
at Eagle River, and Logan and I are testing and preparing to head to Sweden
to race on the 24th. We will spend a week in Sweden working on the sled and
participating in a stadium race at their winterfest, which includes a wide variety
of winter sports. Well thats all for now.

SHAKOPEE

01.11.2012
Hey here's a quick rundown of how the weekend went. We started off by getting trucks washed and
parked Thursday morning. Fortunately we raced in late afternoon and evening starting Friday, so it gave
us all day to check over and prepare sleds for the races. The track was not as big as usual at Shakopee
but was a real good track considering the weather weve had this winter, which also meant the snow was
real wet and heavy from the warm temperatures. The first practice went alrite with some adjustments
made to clutching and shock settings. The rounds didn't go as planned for Logan and which meant he
didn't make the LCQ. Even after the rough night Friday, Logan kept his head up and came into Saturday
ready to ride. Saturday night racing Logan got a 2nd and 3rd in his heat races to qualify 5th for the final,
which was awesome! In the final he was sitting in top 7 and battling when he got together with another
sled, ending up coming off his machine. It was pretty disappointing but that is a part of racing that happens.
So we loaded up the truck and headed home to do more riding and testing to get ready for the next race.

All in all I think it was an OK weekend where we learned more about new sled and have it working alot better
than our last race. This weekend we are heading to ERX motorpark for an ISOC regional race with 4 riders and
DJ, Ryan, and Brian are goin to Pine Lake for a USCC race.
